Ren, a.k.a. Playa Azian, has always had
passion for music. "I can't remember exactly how
old I was, approximately five years old, I used
to listen to Rock & Roll like Guns & Roses, Metallica,
and Kiss. Then when Run DMC came to the game,
I was on it." Ever since then he's been listening
to Hip-Hop but still keeps in touch with his rock
side.
P.A. started spittin' lyrics when he was about
fifteen years old with a classmate. "For some
reason he got me rappin', then we both started
rappin' together and writing rhymes using the
dictionary." Since then he kept writing and going
to studios flowing with different people on occasion.
Just when P.A. seemed to be on his way to being
noticed, he was incarcerated for eighteen months
which he likes to call his "vacation". During
his incarceration, he was still writing and flowing.
"I was never really into freestyling or freestyle
battles. I was always into writing songs with
hooks and content." Playa started writing out
his life experiences like in this rhyme, "I'm
out now free as a bird/ eighteen months in a box
and this is all I heard/ Playa dot Azian/ affiliated
Franklins/out to get money and out to take money."
That rhyme is off his debut album "The One" from
the song titled "You Can't Touch This.
After spending eighteen months in confinement,
he returned to Cali. When he knew being involved
in Hip-Hop is what he wanted to do, he managed
to spark the interest of Bigshot Music top producer
and Vice President Andre J. Clarke a.k.a Big Dre
the Decepticon. Dre and P.A. recorded a song called
"Bounce Trick" and brought it to the attention
of Bigshot's exec Michael Oronde Wright. "I first
heard P.A.'s song over the phone and was like,
"who's that?" I finally went to the studio to
hear the song in person and also to meet P.A.
When I heard the song for the second time in person
and saw Playa, I new right off the bat that he
was a star and could be a powerful force to the
Bigshot family."
